What We're Doing
This virus is hitting our entire way of living in very unique ways, and it may only be beginning. Many of our daily rituals are being interrupted from where we work, to where we go to escape work. Even simple things like taking my dog for a walk has become an exercise in avoidance.
One of the biggest casualties has been the closure of all gyms in the area, a resource people count on for more than just a workout. In recent years, gyms have evolved past the traditional “Health Club” to a safe haven where people can escape to and socialize while trying to better themselves.
To fill this void, BatHound Fitness has marshalled together some online training options to bring the gym right to your living room!
Keep Everyone Healthy
We cannot stress enough the importance of social distancing and self-isolation, but being stuck inside can be a very slippery slope to that dreaded sedentary lifestyle. Home workouts sound great until you have to figure out what to do, how to keep it interesting, and how to keep yourself accountable. Our easy-to-follow workouts will get you back into an exercise routine and keep you moving with new and challenging programs.
Keep Everyone Sane
There's a lot going on right now. Many of us rely on the physical strain of a good workout to keep the mental strain of the rest of our lives in check. With all the new stressors dumped onto us in the past few weeks, getting your exercise in shouldn’t have to be one of them. The resources provided will take that one thing off your plate while providing a valuable outlet for all the other stress coming your way.
Keep Everyone Connected
While social distancing and self-quarantine are imperative to minimize the damage done, we are all feeling the burden of not being able to get out and socialize. Our goal is not only to help people exercise from home, but also give them the community feel of a gym by sharing stories, reading/streaming suggestions, and an outlet to vent about everything that’s going on.
Training Packages Available
All our workouts will be sent out using a program called TrueCoach. This app allows us to send you exercise programs directly and walks you through each set with integrated easy to follow videos. This format makes it easy to follow along at your own pace and ensures you’re never confused about what you’re doing.
If you opt into the custom workouts, you will get personalized programs designed based on your specific goals, whatever equipment you have, and any limitations we may need to work around. If not, you will get the same high-quality program, but it will feature minimal equipment and be geared towards the general population.
To help as many people access this as possible, everything here will be donation-based depending on what you can afford at the moment. Please know there will be ZERO JUDGEMENT on the amount paid as we are all currently facing our own unique challenges.
All donations will run on a monthly schedule and get you access to whichever level you like. Again, these numbers are just suggestions as the real goal here is to help as many people as possible. We ask to give whatever you can right now, some of us are feeling this way more than others and your donation can offset those who can’t afford help right now.
The minimum is set at $5.00 as that’s about how much the software costs. If you’re just looking to stay active in tough times I urge you to take advantage of this to help with your physical (and mental) well-being.
This collection of features will help simulate getting back into a brick-and-mortar gym. Using apps like Slack, Zoom, and TrueCoach, we have put together ways to provide more than just a daily workout. These tools help us go past exercise and and work towards the real behavior changes that are imperative to improving your heath and wellness
Free Intro Call
Upon sign-up, everyone will be scheduled one 15-30 minute introductory call to go over how to use the program and get themselves situated with exercising at home. We’ll discuss strategies to boost accountability, how to maximize the equipment you have, and discuss any other questions you have about this new style of training.
If we get enough people interested, we will start to schedule LIVE classes during the day for you to follow along with at home. If you are unable to join in, you can access the recorded videos at a later time to do on your own. These live classes are a great way to feel a sense of community and stay #alonetogether while still socializing.
The misinformation out there is REAL. With more people online than ever there is a ton of not-so-accurate information flying around from severely skewed stats to claims that, “If you can hold your breath for 10 seconds, you don’t have coronavirus.” (Yes someone on a major network actually said that.) Using the Virtual Toolkit, we will be sending out any articles we find helpful from trusted sources on topics ranging from ways to stay safe to health and wellness tips while stuck inside.
Virtual Personal Training
To recreate the personal training experience, we will be using video conferencing to walk people through one-on-one workouts in real time. Your trainer will guide you through a workout custom tailored to your goals, ability level, and available equipment. This extra level of intimacy will help us understand how to program for you and get the most out of your home workouts
Being trapped inside is actually an AMAZING opportunity to audit your diet and set some personal nutritional goals. With no social pressure to go out or crazy work schedules forcing you to order in, there is a chance to get yourself started on some good habits. We can guide you through the process of finding what works for you and help you identify the ideal nutritional guidelines to meet your individual goals.
Not all of us are completely alone at home. These tools are available to you and whoever you are currently bunkering down with including friends, family, significant others and any other refugees you may have taken in along the way. We can package together workouts for everyone to take part in that will keep everyone engaged and motivated.
